Venison Chipotle Bowl Recipe


                Hey everyone, I just wanted to put together a delicious recipe using our fresh venison that everyone should love. Chipotle has been a growing company because of their fast and fresh food served. I decided to take what they use and make our very own venison chipotle bowls.  The first thing that I do is take out my steaks. Once they are thawed, I then soak them in apple cider overnight. This helps remove the blood and the gamey taste people may complain about. This step is totally up to you. I just did this to see how they would come out. Once you soak in apple cider, you can then begin marinating the steaks in the chipotle vinaigrette. The recipe for this will be posted below. I let my steaks marinate for 12 hours or so. They came out fantastic.  Cook the steaks on the grill or in a pan to your liking. I generally do 6 minutes a side. Totally depends on how rare you like your steak to be. Too make it a true chipotle bowl, I went to chipotle and asked to take home a few of their bowls they use. This was just for the look. Any bowl can be used. For the rice I chose white basmati rice. It is a little bit healthier for you than traditional white rice. Just my preference. You can pick this up in your local grocery store. They are 10-minute boil in bag rice packs. Quick and easy and one bag is good for one bowl. I then made the corn salsa that chipotle uses. That recipe will be posted below as well. From here you can add salsa, sour cream, shredded cheese, roasted veggies, queso dip, and Tostitos chips. This is a nice easy meal that everyone in the house will enjoy. Chipotle Vinaigrette

  • 6 tablespoons red wine vinegar

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1-1/2 teaspoons salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 2 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce

  • 2 small garlic cloves, roughly chopped


Mix all ingredients into a blender to make smooth. I made 4 batches to marinate 8 steaks.


Corn Salsa

  • (12 ounce) bags frozen corn.

  • ½ cup red onion finely chopped.

  • 2 jalapeno peppers stemmed, seeded, and finely chopped.

  • 1 Poblano pepper roasted and finely chopped.

  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro finely chopped.

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice.

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice.

  • 1.5 tablespoons Salt.


Cook the frozen corn in the microwave or other desired method. Let cool. Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl and stir. Enjoy!!!
